Imaginary Escape
Everyone, now and then, thinks about escaping to solitude on a tropical island. In this piece, I wanted to capture the dream-like, nearly abstract, vision of an island and raise the question: are you already on the island, or is the island still out there in the distance?

Uplift
My heart never ceases to be uplifted by the sight of hummingbirds darting from one bloom to the next. My painting serves to urge these highly territorial birds to get along – to not fight with each other – rather to uplift each other.

Tropical Camouflage
In this abstract painting, I express the marvel of how God protects His creations. In this case how the tropical fish blends with his environment.

Spiritual Victory
In this abstract, I wanted to visually express the Holy Spirit’s battle and victory over an evil spirit.

Happy Hour
This captures the blessing of a relaxing moment gazing across Lake Travis while contemplating God’s love and grace.

Enlightened
I was inspired by shapes, textures, and colors of a plate of ceviche, but midway through the painting, I began to see the tension between the white and the tangled colors. For me, it represents the moment when clarity and enlightenment begin to shine through deceit and confusion.

Ascension
This piece captures the joyful, upward movement, or ascension, of our spirit after death.

Magnetic Resistance
I’ve always been fascinated by magnetic force. This abstract captures the instant objects begin to move toward the magnet.

A Mustard Seed Sprouts
A mustard seed starts very small but generates a large bush. Likewise, a small amount of Faith is enough to move a mountain. The energy of Faith is beyond our understanding.

Nemo was Here
This mixed-media expression incorporates acrylic paint and strips of cloth from an old swimsuit to give the impression of looking under water or into an aquarium.

Fractured Creation
This mixed-media piece uses layers, materials, and colors to suggest something whole now in fragments. The mind looks at the image and wants to piece it back together like a puzzle.

Daniel’s Lion
I wanted to capture what Daniel saw the moment he was thrown into the lion’s den. He sees a lion, but also a protective spirit that ultimately saves him

Intertwined
This painting bridges two seasons of my experimentation with abstracts. In my early years as an artist, I leaned heavily on my architectural training to create static, geometric abstracts. However, as I became freer to experiment and express, my abstracts took on free-flowing movement. This painting combines the rigidity of my early work with the relaxed flow of my current style.

Yin Yang Evolution
I started by simply exploring shapes and colors that I like. As I worked, I became increasingly aware of how opposites can fit well together in harmony, the basic Chinese concept of Yin and Yang. I considered my own marriage and how different my husband and I are, but we’re evolving to fit perfectly together as God intended

In the Jungle
At first, looking at a dense jungle, all one can see is a mass of green vegetation. But as we draw closer, more shapes and colors emerge, revealing a complex, living ecosystem.
